January 8, 2020
The City of Santa Rosa Climate Action Subcommittee will meet online on Wednesday, January 13th from 4pm to 6pm. CONGAS needs people to attend and comment during agenda item 4, “Public Comments on Non-Agenda Items.” Please request that the subcommittee agendize at a future meeting, consideration of an ordinance to stop the permitting of new gas stations in the City of Santa Rosa.
The City of Santa Rosa formally declared a climate emergency in January 2020. Transportation accounts for 60% of the greenhouse gas emissions in Sonoma County. That means that the city should not allow the expansion of unnecessary fossil fuel infrastructure. All you need to say is “please include a discussion about an ordinance to restrict new gas station construction on a future CAS agenda.” If you would like more talking points see the “policy points” document in the Take Action section of the CONGAS website.
It does not matter where you live in Sonoma County, but it is especially helpful if you live in Santa Rosa so that you tell the subcommittee that you are a Santa Rosa resident.
